This design was a lot more challenging.
Basically, Moro the main man, found a picture of Charlize Theron on the cover of Bazaar magazine in a designer asymmetrical dress, he said, “This, but pants, not a skirt”
Yes. I was like…”huh?” I mean, where to start?
A magazine shoot is easier to style than a moving dance, how do you keep the costume figure hugging throughout?
I had to think quick to match the budget, I really wanted to make them.
I sat with pen and paper for over half an hour running my mind through the pattern shape and how it would fit on the body. ANd then again at different stages of the day, trying to pinpoint where the lines would go on a flat pattern.
He delivered the fabrics and decided the colour scheme and away I went.
The ladies came in for three fittings each. They were all different sizes and shapes, so each suit had to be personally tailored to fit.
It was an ongoing work in progress, adjusting and tweaking, discussing and adjusting some more, but we got there in the end!
