Galah Costumes for TV

We custom made some galah costumes in next to no time for a tv campaign designed to discourage teenagers from binge drinking.

Check out these Galahs i made for a recent community service announcement.

I didn’t know exactly how they would be used after such a fast paced brief, but here’s the result.

“Too many drinks and you’re a Galah”

Veiw the ad below:

I recieved a phone call “We can’t find any Galah costumes, can you make us one?”

AC: “yes of course, when do you need it.”
Client: “By Monday”
It was Wednesday.
AC: “Ahhhh, at this time it’s posssible, if you can drop the materials to me first thing in the morning, you can pick up the suit first thing on Monday”
Client: “Actually, we’re not in Sydney, and we need three costumes.”

After a bit of further communication they said they were able to push the filming back to Thursday allowing for a Wednesday morning courier pick up deadline, and a time frame able to accomodate the making of 3 faceless galah suits.

And away I went, purchasing materials and phoning around for another hand.
I got the best seamstress I know, luckily she was available to help me bust through that deadline, sending progress pictures as we went.
I recieved another phone call “Can you change the pink? it’s too bright”
I’ve been through this precedure too many times to be fazed, and was able to send one of Sydney’s best TVC buyers (who just happened to have his morning free) to the other side of town to get some appropriate colours to colour over the pink and tone it down to a more acceptable level.
Bingo Bango, done.

And here is the result, incase you didn’t click on the link above.

And rememeber, too many drinks and you’re a Galah.
