Santino and Soraya knew what they wanted when they came in to get a dancewear dress made for an upcoming performance.
The song they were performing to was called “Mi Santa” My Saint, and naturally they wanted to wear white.
They wanted stretchy but reasonably firm fabric. The other thing was, Soraya was pregnant, and the dress needed to accommodate a growing belly.
They wanted white with lace. Luckily i found some stretchy white lace on a roll.
So i took her measurements and made up a dress, a firm lycra and a skirt of lace. I did warn that the lace and the lining were made of different materials and so I couldn’t be sure if they would work well together, but they liked the idea of a lace skirt, so we went ahead with that design, to see if we could make it work.
After one performance they realised that the two layers were not working well, so we changed the skirt to full lycra.
The whole dress is double layers of lycra to give a firmer hold, and as you can see, the results are charming!
