First there was Bunnyhoopstar of Platinum fame, and then came Jewelz A Hoopz, both hypnotising Sydney and beyond with their colourful health invigorating hoop gyrations including flashing hoop lights and mind blowing black light glowing Fluro.

Today I made a costume for Jewelz who will be performing at the Opera House this weekend.
Over the phone she described what she was after. Then she emailed through some sketches and apologised “but it was the only pen she could find,” they were drawn in hot pink felt tip. I thought, looks like this girl could be a fairy.
After some more discussion and images, we defined the types of fabrics she needed and how much of each, she bought them all and delivered them to Agent Costume Headquarters.
It’s easier that way, if I get to the fabric store and discover what we discussed isn’t there i have to spend a whole lot more time describing the new design strategy and getting it approved, the client knows which way they would prefer to compromise, or shift the design, it saves my time.
I gave her some guidelines and she picked her favourite out of what happened to be available.
Then I set about cutting and and sewing until.. ualla! A new hooping persona was born!
“it’s even better than I expected!” she gushed as she stepped through the door resplendent in rainbow colours of fur and frills, a sight for sore eyes on this hazy grey rainy winter day.
“Shucks” I blushed “that’s my job”
Now Jewelz has a new costume to add to her collection, she’ll be taking it world wide on her next trip in July teaching at festivals and entertaining.
