Cats don’t like wearing costumes.
I made a wizard costume once for another costume designer. She told me the cat wouldn’t put its legs in, so it ended up wearing a hastily fashioned cape. It did wear the hat though, so not all was lost.
For the Wizard job, I intuitively altered a Chihuahua costume pattern remembering my old pet cat. Funnily, 2 weeks later, I was alerted to an astronaut cat costume in the works. I was able to springboard off the Cat Wizard experience, and evolve to Space cat.
Its funny how life works sometimes.

After hearing about the on set Wizard experience, it seemed pretty clear, a cat was highly unlikely to agree to wearing an astronaut costume for a TVC shoot, even a Cat as cool as Steve- who i have worked with before.
So I ended up making a “stand in.”
I drew up a basic sketch to get some idea of body shape:
