So you have a costume party coming up and you don’t know whether to buy a costume or to hire one.
Well, that all depends on the party, how you want to feel and if the photos that arise from the party are important to you.
I’ve had people say to me “Why would I hire an outfit when I can purchase one for the same price to keep?”
Well, you end up spending the same amount on vastly different quality. Spend $50 on an outfit you get to own but wont wear again because the quality is not inspiring enough to wear twice, or spend the same $50 on a costume of far greater quality, which is personally styled, adjusted and guaranteed to fit.
I’ve had other people say “last time i bought a costume on line, it was so poorly made, part of it came apart before I even got to wear it properly, I wont be doing that again” Some one else said ” I have a costume collection at home, and I have to say, none of the bargain shop costumes are in it, they are just not worth keeping”
Do you want to spend $50 on a costume that fits poorly, is made from flimsy materials, quite often only decorated at the front and tied closed at the back with flimsy ties?
or would you spend $50 on a costume hire that you will also only wear once, but is worth $250, professionally styled and fitted to have you look and feel like a real costumed character?
Spend a little more, say $80 on a hire costume that would ordinarily cost $450 or $650 to put together yourself.
When you hire, the work has been done for you, and you get to tweak the costume in such as way as to make it unique. At the end of the day, the photographs live on, providing long lived memories that make that extra effort go a little further.
A good costume shop will be stocked with quality costume jewellery, wigs, headpieces etc, and will save you hours running around town trying to find just the right accessories.
If you intend to go crazy, and not look after the costume, then by all means, buy a packet one and do your thing.
But if you like to look and feel special on your costumed nights out, then go to your favourite costume shop, get professionally styled up and hire an outfit valued at several times the amount you’ll pay for the privilege of wearing it. A good stylist will know which questions to ask to help bring out the best in you. Either way, it’s only one night, but the value speaks for itself, and so will the photographs.
And don’t forget, it’s better for your environmental foot print- less landfill, as well as supporting the livelihood of a local business, and a creative outlet for your community.
How could you lose?
…just don’t lose the costume…
(and you’ll be sure to get your security bond back)
It’s all about quality.
Agent Costume is here for those times when you appreciate that extra value.
