BooHoo Social Diary Christmas Party!

Every year Social Diary kicks off the Sydney Christmas party season with a wild array of sights, sounds, colours, tastes, cocktails and fun bags full of tasty treats and vouchers and discounted luxury services, ooohhh lala! This year Social Diary collaborated with BooHoo clothing for a Fears and Phobias extravaganza.
The entrance of the party was sharks mouth! the guardians with the door lists were zombies,
the lead up to the entrance and the zombies were frightening australian wildlife, spiders and snakes! Eeeeeek!

Agent Costume was lucky enough to et to make the Host’s costume again this year!

I’ve been lucky in recent years to have had the privilege of designing and constructing the costume of party host and creator of Social Diary Tiffany Farrington. Probably one of the most challenging jobs of the year, but great fun because it pushes my skills beyond my previous experiences….phew!

Something I enjoy about working with Tiffany, is that we don’t discuss what’s possible first up. We open our minds and think about the effect and the impact of the ideal scenario, and then we work backwards from there. Considering the limitations up front can sometimes create limitations where possibly they may be surpassed. We’re only ever limited by time and budget, I spend many nights mulling over possibilities and designing, re designing, figuring out how to make our ideas light and functional.
It also helps to be able to workshop these ideas with my designer husband who brings in new ideas of construction from his set building and furniture building experiences.

Another thing that makes the design process easier is that Tiffany is very clear about what she likes, and what she doesn’t like, so i don’t have to spend time uncovering her preferences, she’s already aware of them. It’s impressive actually to work with someone who is so clear about what they need, and where they are willing to sacrifice design elements, and be able to state what’s imperative to uphold their vision and message, even when situations change, she is able to quickly weigh up the options and make a clear decision often on the spot. That’s impressive and makes my life easier.

This costume was the product of 6 people:
The client,
costume designer,
two graphics designers-1 for the magazine layout, the other to reshape the imagery to fit the template I’d designed for the costume,
a printer,
an assistant to help glue and do more graphics.

It would have taken me 5 times longer to achieve the graphics we needed without the professional graphic design help.

ok! its my costume with special guest Guy Sebastian!

Thank you to La Tessa Photography for allowing me to use some of their photos on this page!
