I made these three costumes for the Australian Police Force.
The production company producing the community service announcement rang me with the request to make 3 galah costumes by the following week.
They had searched high and low and found nothing to suit what they were looking for, the wrong colours or not enough of them, do i have any?
“No” i said, “but i can make some up for you, when do you need them?”
In 3 days.
It was a stretch, but they were able to put their shoot off for 3 days. I made some sketches and offered some quotes based on time limitations and material availablility.
The sketches were approved and away I went, sourcing materials, and then cutting and sewing like mad to get them finished in time for a courier pick up and deliver them to another city in another state.
I sent progress photos half way through.
“Can you dull the pink?”
the pink was a little bit too ‘hot’ so I sourced some spray, donned my mask and goggles and layered some spray colour to dull it down more.
If we had more time I may have been able to source a more appropriate colour, but given the circumstance, I think the result is not bad.
